Nurse of the Year

The NJHEHNA Nurse of the Year award is presented annually to the member who best exemplifies the mission of the organization. This honor is bestowed upon a member who may or may not be an officer in the organization, but one who is committed to demonstrating the organization's objectives through contributions on committees, continuing education through development of in-service programs, occupational health professional organization membership, publishing medical articles and/or attaining specific certification.

The 2009 Employee Health Nurse of the Year award was presented to Maureen Badaracco, BSN, RNC [Employee Health Nurse, Bayonne Medical Center, Bayonne, NJ]. Maureen has been a member of the NJHEHNA for only three years and is currently serving as the President of the organization. She received her nursing diploma from Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing in 1979, her BSN from Seton Hall University, East Orange, NJ in 2005 and is currently pursuing her Masters in Health Education at New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NJ with graduation anticipated in the summer of 2010. She holds certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing, is a Certified School Nurse and is on track for receiving her Certification in Occupational Health Nursing within the next year. Maureen was instrumental in developing and is currently maintaining for the first NJHEHNA website (www.njhehna.org) which was just launched this past summer.
