Code of Ethics

  • Provide nursing service in a hospital environment with respect for human dignity, unrestricted by consideration of nationality, race, religion or sex.
  • Safeguard the hospital employee's right to privacy by protecting confidential information and releasing information only required by law or upon written consent of the employee.
  • Maintain individual competence in hospital health nursing practices, recognizing and accepting responsibility for individual actions and judgments.
  • Act to safeguard the health and the safety of the employee in the hospital environment.
  • Participate in research and case finding activities related to the hospital when assured that the hospital employee's rights are protected.
  • Contribute to the efforts of the profession to continue to define and upgrade standards of health, nursing practice and education.
  • Incorporate the standards of practice into the hospital health nursing service and use the standards as criteria for evaluating job performance.
  • Cooperate with the community health agencies and maintain sound ethical relationships with members of allied health professions.
  • Refrain from allowing their name to be used in connection with advertising products or with other forms of self-advertising.
